Moving to a new country can be very exciting and challenging at the same time, and these are common feelings experienced by many immigrants who come to Canada.
The YMCA Newcomer Information Centre recognizes the expectations and challenges faced by the newcomers to Canada. On the one hand, the dream of all the new possibilities and expectations of a better life ahead, on the other the challenge of leaving part of ourselves behind and facing the unknown regarding culture and custom, language barrier, housing, employment, among many other concerns.
Understanding the challenges faced by newcomers when it comes to foreign education and work experience, our knowledgeable staff prepared a new series of webinars for Internationally Educated Professionals, starting in July 2021.
For this special series of webinars, we’ve planned information sessions delivered by our Information & Referral Specialists also by Guest Speakers from our partner organizations.
During these information sessions, newcomers will learn about the different programs and services focused on the Internationally Educated Professionals, such as; how to evaluate the international credential, where to find paid internship opportunities, what are the financing options according to their training and education, how to become an apprentice and how to have a career in the skilled trades, and how you can communicate effectively in the Canadian workplace.
